Register: Players will register as an individual on the HYL Sports Engine website.

Team Formation: Teams are formed based on high school feeder pattern boundaries with the intent to roster players together that will be future high school teammates.  (Click here for the complete Team Formation Guidelines)

Practice: 1 x 1.5 hours practice a week coordinated by HYL. Practices start week of November 9th-13th. Any additional practice coordination is up to the coach.

Games: School Competitive teams play 3 x Jamboree scrimmages and 7 games (3 x regular season games + 2 HYL/MLK Tournament games + 2 x Final Four games)

Game Play:

• (NEW) 3rd Grade School Competitive team use the 27.5 (Size 5) basketball and play on 10 foot hoops.
• 4th-6th Grade School Competitive teams use the 28.5 (Size 6) basketball and play on 10 foot hoops. (Click the link for complete School Competitive Game Rules).

Important Dates:

• July 15: Registration Opens
• September 15: Registration Closes
• November 8th: Coaches Meeting and Jersey distribution
• November 9th-13th: Practices Begin
• November 21st: School Competitive Jamboree (every team will play 3 x 10 minute scrimmages).
• January 9th: Game Day 1
• January 16th/17th: Game Days 2&3 (HYL/MLK School Only Tournament)
• January 23: Game Day 4
• January 30: Game Day 5
• February 3: Final Four Brackets Posted
• February 6: Game Day 6 (Final Four Rounds 1&2 and jersey turn-in)*

Additional Information:

• The HYL/MLK School Only Tournament is included with the School Competitive registration. HYL School Competitive teams are not required to reregister for the tournament. The tournament will be played over both Saturdayand Sunday and includes a two game minimum.
• *Every team is guaranteed 2 x Final Four games no matter their win loss records during the season. Final Four brackets are based on regular season records with teams matched against teams closets to their records and skill levels to provide the most competitive games to finish the season.
• Due to scheduling complexities, some teams will be required to play 2 games on the same Saturday.  If a team is scheduled for 2 games on a Saturday, there will be a Saturday they do not play.
