What's NEW at HYL
1. We have changed our Registration and Team Management App: HYL has switched registration and team management platforms from Crossbar to Sports Engine. All registration links will direct you to the Sports Engine website. If you already have an account, you login and continue to register your player. If you do not have an account, you will be prompted to create a new account. The new account requires basic contact information and will be the main account for all registration and team communications in the future. 2. We have shifted the School Competitive league schedule:  We have modified the league schedule to provide a better competitive environment for all players. See below for more information on all the HYL leagues.
3. 7th and 8th Grade School Teams: The 7th and 8th Grade Girls and Boys School teams will now play as part of the 7th and 8th Grade HYL Club League. The League has 8 different divisions (four divisions for the Girls and four divisions for the boys) to provide the be most competitive games for all teams. 7th and 8th Grade teams will also register as a team by their coach and not as individuals. Click the link to more information about the 7th and 8th Grade Club League.Â
4. Rule Changes: We have modified the 3rd Grade School Competitive Division's ball size and Full Court Press Rules. We have also shifted to a running clock for ALL HYL Leagues. Click the link to see the complete list of rules for all Leagues: HYL Rules
5.  HYL Club Schedule: The HYL Club game day schedule has changed. The 5th and 6th Grade Boys HYL Division will play on Wednesday nights during the season. All other divisions in the HYL Club League will play games on Saturdays. Click here to see Game Day information for the HYL Club League.Â
6. HYL/MLK Day School Team Tournament: We have expanded the HYL/MLK Weekend Tournament to two days (Saturday, January 16th and Sunday, January 17th). The tournament is open to all 3rd-6th grade school teams in the area and INCLUDED as part of the HYL School Competitive League schedule. Click here to see the HYL School Competitive Schedule and the HYL/MLK Day Tournament information.Â
School Leagues Information
K-2nd Grade School Recreational
For players at any skill level who want to play for fun, including beginners. The only division for K - 2nd grade.
PRACTICE: 1 x 1 hour practice per week. Practices start week of 19-23 October
Teams formed by attending elementary school.
GAMES: 1 game a week on Saturdays. 6 games total.
October 31st - December 12th
COST: $75. Discounted price option is available.
Teams that want to continue playing may register AS A TEAM in the Winter Season begining in January.
3rd-6th Grade School Recreational
For players at any skill level who want to play for fun, including beginners. 3rd-6th grade recreational teams will end the season with a Final Four tournament.
PRACTICE: 1 x 1 hour practice per week. Practices start week of 19-23 October.
Teams formed by attending elementary or middle school.
GAMES: 1 game a week on Saturdays. 7 games total (5 Regular Season games and 2 x STCU Final Four Games).
October 31st - December 12th&13th*
*December 12th&13th is the season ending STCU Final Four weekend. Teams will have one game Saturday and one game Sunday to finish out the year!
COST: $130. Discounted and scholarship price options are available.
Teams that want to continue playing may register AS A TEAM in the Winter Season begining in January.
3rd-6th Grade school Competitive
For the player that has prior team basketball experience, better than average skills for his/her grade level, understand the rules, is looking to play a longer season and be on a skilled team from other players within their future high school boundary.
Teams are formed by feeder HS boundaries along with input from coaches and HS volunteers.
PRACTICE: 1 x 1.5 hours practice a week coordinated by HYL. Practices start week of November 9th-13th. Any additional practice coordination is up to the coach.
GAMES:Â School Competitive teams play 3 x Jamboree scrimmages and 7 games (3 x regular season games + 2 HYL/MLK Tournament games + 2 x Final Four games)
3rd-6th Grade Season - Jamboree Scrimmages November 21; Regular season begin January 9th.
COST: $160. Reduced and scholarship options are available.
All 3rd-6th grade teams have the option to register as a team for tournaments. HYL will not schedule league games during tournament dates. Players who play in both HYL School Competitive and HYL Club will receive a discount on their club registration.
HYL Club League Information
3rd-8th GRADE CLUB
For the teams that are already established and have a coach - similar format to a typical AAU league. This is an "advanced competitive" league that allows players to also play in 3rd-8th competitive if they would like more experience.
(New this year: 7th and 8th Grade School Based Teams will participate in the 7th and 8th Grade Club league - click the Learn More link below to see the new division structure for 7th and 8th Grade to provid the most competitive games each week).
Coach-formed and coach or team reprentative registered teams
GAMES: 10 Total Games (8 x regular season, and 2 x Final Four playoff games)
5th-6th Grade Boys- Games on Wednesday nights at the HUB Sports Facility and local middle schools. Season runs October 28th - January 10th
All Girls Divisions, 3rd, 4th, 7th and 8th Grade Boys Division - Games on Saturdays at either the Warehouse or a local middle school. Season runs October 31st - January 10th.
COST: $1800
***Players who register for HYL Competitive will receive up to $100 on their HYL Competitive Registration.

Coaches are the backbone of our league! We rely on over 400 volunteer coaches to help teach and grow the game of basketball. Like signing up to play, we accept anyone wanting to coach. HYL provides coaching resources and tools to assist with the management of the season. More details coming this fall...

SPORTSMANSHIP POLICIES
Participant Conduct:Â The Hooptown Youth League staff and officials reserve the right to eject any player, coach, official, or spectator from a facility for objectionable behavior.
Referee Complaints – Coaches: Please address any officiating disputes in a professional manner with your gym’s designated Supervisor. Be a role model for your players and address the situation with respect and grace.
Parents:Â If you have an issue with a referee, you must direct it through your coach.
